Alpacas are fun and easy to raise. By nature they are quite timid while in the presence of humans, but with loving care and lots of attention they can grow to become a life long companion.
They are easiest to handle when they are halter trained. This usually takes about 10 attempts and is a fairly simple procedure.
When purchasing Alpacas even as pets, you should purchase two. Being social animals, they do better with others of their kind to keep them company. Alpacas also require annual shots to keep them happy and healthy.
Alpacas are very hardy animals, and can withstand temperatures ranging from - 40 degrees (celcius) to 40 degrees. However, we do have shelters for the extreme temperatures.
Alpacas are also very intelligent animals, and are very easy to herd. We have a night coumpound for them with predator fencing to keep them from harm. We let them out to graze in large fileds during the day, at night we feed them Alpaca Pellets, 1 cup per animal per day as a vitamin
